History

Gordon Styles built up STYLES RPD to be the largest rapid prototyping company in the UK at the time with sales of USD 6.5m. STYLES RPD was sold to ARRK in 2000. During the following five year period Gordon researched the Asian RP industry extensively and found that few could provide prototypes of a western standard. Hence, on the 1st August 2005 Star Prototype China Limited was incorporated.

By August 2009, Star Prototype moved from its representative Office in Yihua, Zhongshan to a 24,000ft2 factory near Zhongshan Port. An initial investment of USD 500,000 was made in capital equipment.

In the follow years Star Prototype grew quickly, employing representatives around the globe and expanding its factory capabilities. In 2012 Star Prototype expanded its facilities adding a 12,000ft2 office building. Star Prototype employs over 100 people and continues to expand at a rate of 50% per year. Later in 2012 STAR will open a new 4,500ft2 Additive Manufacturing Centre.
