When Star-Prototype was first set up, we took the decision to bring in foreign engineers to train our craftsmen. Master-Modelmaker Bradlee Hughes of the USA came to China to train our painters and finishers to do advanced detailing, painting, and printing of prototypes.
Star-Prototype invested in a clean room paint facility to ensure the absence of silicone contaminants and dust, and also to deal with the extreme humidity conditions of China. When painting PU top-coat, our painters wear full body suits and full face active carbon respirators to avoid body debris from making it into the paint.
Star-Prototype is the only rapid prototyping company in China with such a topcoat facility.
We mostly use imported toners and top-coat paints from PPG in the USA. We have a huge range of toners allowing us to match almost all Pantone numbers. Our painters are trained in colour theory. All colors are matched in light cabinets. We often do the tinting of clear parts and also use metallic flake for full automotive finishes.
This allows Star-Prototype to be able to provide painted finishes equal to the best prototype factories all over the World.
